urban baby m – [St. Louis Newborn Photography]

Posted on July 13, 2009

If you’ve ever seen my OTHER blog (HERE) then you know I like to work in urban areas. I’m sorry, I mean I have a LOVE AFFAIR with urban locations. And I had the idea recently that I’d love to photograph a baby in the city. But who in the world would let two crazy photographers take their infant to the city?

Oh, just our awesome and EASY GOING friend/client Kristin. Mom of Baby M.

Luckily Kim didn’t think I had totally lost my mind and when I proposed the idea to Kristin she didn’t either! Can I just say that I LOVE clients who are willing to let us PLAY and really be CREATIVE? Even if it means sticking their newborn daughter in a wet and dirty tire? Oh man!

Thanks so so much Kristin for today! And thanks also to Kim who embraced my vision and brought it to life! These sneak peeks are all via Kim who shot more than me today and was WAY faster at getting some done for the blog! She is a rockstar and the most incredible business partner I could ever have asked for.

Whew.

Enough gush for one night huh?

You just can’t imagine how excited I am to unveil these photos and PLEASE… if you are a parent and would be willing to head downtown with us one day PLEASE LET US KNOW!

And now… presenting URBAN BABY from Fresh Art Photography!

So yeah. We almost wet our pants when we saw FRESH WAREHOUSE on the side of this building! Sound like a great name for a FUTURE studio don’t you think?

Doesn’t that just make you want to go to the ghetto with us? PLEASE? HA!

baby b – [St. Louis Newborn Photographer]

Posted on July 9, 2009

Last fall I held mini sessions in the city and one of the couples that came was unknowingly pregnant! Four weeks to be exact! After our own THREE surprise babies I love it when other people are blessed with their own little surprises! HA! Danielle and John are some of the kindest and most laid back people I’ve ever met and I know they are going to be awesome parents!

And talk about LAID BACK! Hanging with Baby B this morning was the definition of laid back! He’s about 2 weeks old, which is older than we normally shoot newborns, but even when he was wide awake he let us move him into fun positions! A WIDE AWAKE bendy baby is hard to find… but not surprising  if you know his RELAXED AT ALL TIMES momma!

Thanks Danielle and John (and Bridie!) for letting us come meet little B… he is adorable! All 10 chunky pounds of him!

Enjoy your sneak peek!

Summer babies are so much fun. And so much easier if we’re going to be completely honest! And St. Louis summers make photographing babies even simpler because the sauna you walk outside in is comfy cozy to those new little people! So while Kim, M’s mom and I sweat it out, Baby M was happy as a clam!

We about died when she broke out into the biggest grin! SO adorable!

Baby M’s mom had the BEST props. Ok, I guess I should say, she had the best FURNITURE that we dragged outside to use for props! I love it when our clients have awesome pieces in their homes we can use… not only does it make our job more interesting, it definitely makes the photos more special to the family!

Thanks Kristin and Baby M… that little chunk (9lbs at birth!) couldn’t be any cuter! Your slide show will be posted tomorrow so check back!

welcome.

Posted on July 1, 2009

Kim and I have been teasing many of you via our blogs and twitter recently about our new endeavor and we’re so excited to finally let the cat out of the bag!

Welcome to Fresh Art Photography, where Kim Weiss and Jodie Allen (me!) will be joining forces to bring fine art newborn and birth photography to St. Louis!

We’re beyond excited about this journey and can’t wait to show you everything we have up our sleeves! Things like NEW products, FUN offers and DOUBLE the talent at each session!

That is hands down the best part of this collaboration, bringing two completely different artists together for each session. My style and Kim’s style are, at times, at different ends of the spectrum, but together we are able to offer our clients the complete package if you will. The full spectrum. Two different points of view photographing one little baby! So great!

And so fun! Kim and I met through an organization we both volunteer for, Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep, and from there we became good friends. Our friendship grew out of our total respect for the other’s work and our ability to truly appreciate the other’s unique style and take on this craft. When we shoot together we have the best time and are able to give the most comprehensive work to our client that they will ever receive.

Let me stop talking to you so you can cruise around the new blogsite! Take a look at our galleries, read about what we offer in our “the investment” page and get to know us better by clicking on our individual websites to read our other blogs! Poke around! Look! Enjoy!

But before you start moving around in here let me mention some MAJOR specials we are offering on our launch day!

1. If you are pregnant and your DUE DATE is in July 2009 you are able to get your session fee FREE! Seriously! FREE! That’s a HUGE savings! Spread the word to all of your just-about-to-pop friends out there b/c you can’t get better than FREE!

2. If you BOOK A SESSION in July for anytime you get 75% off your session fee! Meaning, if you aren’t due until January, no worries! Just book NOW to get the savings!

3. If you BOOK A SESSION in August for anytime you get 50% off your session fee!

4. If you BOOK A SESSION in September for anytime you get 25% off your session fee… and this is our LAST massive discount so BOOK EARLY to SAVE MORE!

We’d love to hear what you think! Leave a comment and tell us you love the idea or think we’re crazy! HA! Either way it’ll be nice to get your feedback! I’m sure a lot of you think we’re crazy since we have so many young children between us (we have three under four and Kim has SEVEN kids ranging from 2-14!) but we couldn’t be more excited!

I will say, briefly, that this does mean that both Kim Weiss Photography and Jodified Photography+Design Inc. will no longer be offering maternity or newborn or birth sessions. If you are a current client for either company, no fear, we have specials JUST FOR YOU we can tell you about, but you do have to book through Fresh Art from here on out if you are WITH CHILD! And although it’s a pretty big change, it’s a GREAT change so we hope you all are on board!

Enjoy your day and please spread the word about Fresh Art!

behind the scenes

Posted on July 1, 2009

When Kim and I decided to join forces for Fresh Art we were so excited to get to shoot together! There are so many times you are at a newborn session just wishing you had another set of hands to secure the baby or hold the reflector or play with the toddler! And now we do! Four hands make the session go so much more smoothly and quickly.

Four hands also mean that we get to take a lot more “behind the scenes” photos which are always fun to share! We each get questions all the time about posing or lighting or camera settings and we hope to share all of our “secrets” with you on this blogsite as our journey together continues.

For now, here are some shots of us working with a couple of sweet babies…
