ellie bellie & livie lu & frankie too! – [St. Louis Twin Newborn Photographers]
Posted on December 20, 2009
a few more of the sweet little twins we got to hang out with this past week. Ellie & Livie were 4 weeks old, which makes us nervous with ONE baby to get the shots we want, let alone TWO! But they were fabulous and sweet! And they have the best big brother… who we bribed sufficiently (I think at one point Jodie promised him a million dollars or a new car… ha!). They have lots of great family who were there to help, as well as their future BFF, Miss Gretchen, who we were delighted to see again with her mommy! Our clients truly DO become our friends!
A few more to tide you over, Annie & George (and all their family/friends too)!

did you know today is Christmas party day?
Posted on December 18, 2009
And did you know that means you have to buy teacher gifts?
Because I totally forgot until about 7pm last night when I frantically ran around Hobby Lobby trying to figure out what I could make that would WOW their preschool teachers b/c you know, it’s all about the teacher gift.
So after that quick shopping spree I then had to MAKE the six gifts. Oh and hand sew a birthday wand for Bailey’s BFF, b/c today’s her birthday party and she asked me for one. So I was crafting until midnight last night and then working until 2am. Up at 6am.
Where is the in-house fountain soda machine I asked Santa for?
So this is NOT a day to blog. I have NO time this morning but I am already a day late announcing the Vol.25 overlay winner AND we had a great newborn twin session yesterday.
This will be quick, and I apologize… just a lot on my plate today…
THE WINNER.. KELSI!
Last night I read Bailey all the names and she picked YOU b/c Kate’s little sister and Gray’s girl friend is Kelsey, and so is a favorite baby sitter! Lucky you had that name!
Email Jessica Rose and she’ll send you your choice in overlays! AWESOME! Thanks again Jessica!
AND a quick sneak peek! We’ll do more later…
Livie and Ellie… super cute one month old girls!

And big brother Frankie!
It was a great session… and we’ll blog more later… when I’m not exhausted from four hours of crating last night!

vol 25 ::: artist spotlight
Posted on December 15, 2009
Kim and I are pretty passionate about art. Creating art, or course, but also trying to buy handmade to support other artists. And helping artists get the word out about their incredible work is so important to us. So this week I am working on a new page for the blog featuring all of our favorite artists that will replace the holiday cards page! A little link love can go far in helping small businesses sometimes!
So our first ARTIST SPOTLIGHT is Jessica Rose from Vol. 25!
I actually found her Etsy shop from my friend (and a future Artist Spotlight post!) Sara’s BLOG! And once I clicked over there I immediately bought THREE of her prints for Christmas gifts! THIS ONE for myself b/c the girls and I sing this Mary Poppin’s song every single day so it will always bring back sweet memories and two for actual gifts!
Then, as I was poking around her Etsy shop and becoming more and more obsessed I stumbled upon her blog and OH MY EYE CANDY! Such sweet goodness HERE!
So I left her a comment telling her how great I thought she was, she hopped over to our blog from the link in the comment (THIS is why comments can be so great people!), she liked our work and asked us to try out two new sets of overlays she’s working on!
I can not even tell you how excited I was! SO last night I messed around and had WAY too much fun!

See? SO FUN! I’m a tad obsessed so expect to see more of these… especially since we have newborn twins to photograph on Thursday… totally will play with those images!
Most of those overlays are from her two new sets she’s launching Thursday (that’s right! You got the SCOOP here!), Blossom and Bloom, but a few are from one of her other sets called Whimsical. I really love all of them and she’s busy creating MORE! Here is her overlay blog!
AND, b/c Jessica is awesome, she’s giving away ONE SET OF YOUR CHOICE here on our blog! Leave a comment telling her how awesome she is ON THIS POST and you’ll be entered to win! At a random time tomorrow I will let Bailey pick the winner!
These are the two sets she’s launching on Thurs:

But her other three are awesome too! And if you win you can chose any one of the five for free!
So go buy her art or her overlays or she even has a site that sells t-shirts! This is seriously one talented lady!
AND… if you want to see OUR work over on HER blog go HERE!
So cool! Thanks Jessica!

my first gray, er, white hair and other random stuff.
Posted on December 15, 2009
The other day at Target we were waiting for our usual snack of soft pretzels to be done and Bailey, reading the door of the trash can, said: “T-H-A-N-K-Y-O-U… trash can! Right Mommy?” I didn’t have the heart to tell her she was wrong as she’s totally into spelling and reading right now.
————————
I got my hair cut Saturday and while she was blow drying it I noticed this crazy hair sticking up. Um yeah. It was white. And coarse. And straw-like. And attached to my head.
30 sucks.

Kim and I just booked a wedding for January 2nd and we couldn’t be more excited! Thanks for trusting us with your big day Stephanie!

Have you heard of Elf on a Shelf? My friend Lyndsay has the funniest photos of her elf, Bob. And the stories of him and his friend Twink have had me laughing so hard I went and bought one for our kids! The girls named him Mr. Elfkin and he’s been the most fun this season! They RACE downstairs to find him each morning!
Totally stealing Lyndsay’s idea and photographing Elfkin’s time in our home this year! Thanks for the idea Lynds! Or for letting me STEAL your idea! HA!

The girls found he’d written them a note Sunday night after they had a sleepover at Grandma’s house! Monday when we got home for lunch after school they were DYING that he’d written them something! I saved the note and will put a little book together we can add to each year with Elfkin’s adventures!

Just finished designing my BIL’s Christmas card and since most of the people he’ll be sending it to DO NOT read this blog I just had to share!

The overlays I used on the card are AWESOME! Messing around with a few more got me here:

A full post on these awesome PS overlays coming soon!

And I think that’s all I’ve got today! Maybe another post or two later! I’m in a bloggityblogblog mood today!

Annie and Brad {St. Louis Maternity Photographers}
Posted on December 13, 2009
Kim and I got to take out our rusty cameras and shoot a gorgeous mom-to-be today! It’s hard to go from 27 sessions in a month to just a few… I really felt out of practice today! But it was also really nice. Nice that it comes back in an instant. Nice how the camera just fits in my hand. Nice that I don’t have to think about my settings b/c it’s just like riding a bike… you never really forget. Love that.
And love it when we have clients that are up for anything, willing to go anywhere, casual and easy going!
Plus, I’ve known Brad since we were kids at church together so it was great to see him as a husband and almost-dad! And even though I have three of my own, which I’m sure is strange for people, it always hits me when a childhood friend becomes a parent. Like they are yanked out of that permanent memory in my mind and forced to instantly grow up before my eyes. Driving to Brad and Annie’s house I had 14 year old Brad in my head and when he opened the door, in a sweater vest nonetheless, it was like I was looking at a totally different person. Still sweet and soft spoken and funny, but a grown up.
Do you know what I mean?
Or are you just wishing I’d shut up and show you some photos? HA!

Thanks Pluhars! We loved hanging with you guys today and can’t wait to meet Owen!!!
