Colin – [St. Louis Newborn Photographers]

Posted on January 25, 2010

Kim and I met up with sweet little Colin, 8 days old, and his 1 year old brother yesterday afternoon. Colin, very much like his cousin, was a VERY wide awake baby! He certainly gave us a run for our money! And so did his busy brother Nathan! But MAN were these boys adorable! And we absolutely LOVE their family! We’re getting to know their mom, aunt and Grandma pretty well and just love spending time with them! Thanks Tina, Maggie and Midge for making our afternoon so much fun!

Could Nathan be any cuter? I mean seriously!

And little Colin, while awake most of the time, barely made a peep! Soooo sweet and cuddly!

We have a BUSY week! Two more newborn sessions, a meeting at Children’s Hospital and a T.V. interview! More on THAT later!

But can I tell you that my Monday freaking morning started out with an entire bag of Goldfish AND pretzel sticks being dumped on the ground? Oh and I have NO clean underwear. And well, I can just tell it’s going to be one of those days. My goal? Survival. And to catch up on the massive laundry pile that’s threatening to give up and walk out the door! Oh and go buy diapers and pick up dry cleaning. And get the girls to and from school. And keep Bubba busy and not making huge goldfish messes. When I read that THESE photographers stay in bed until 10am on Monday mornings it made me want to cry… how nice would that be?

Time to get moving! GO!

Parker’s Belated Birthday Party.

Posted on January 23, 2010

Parker turned three on November 18th and it was the week Chris was in the hospital for H1N1. So not only did he miss her birthday completely but we had to cancel the little party we had planned. Then the holidays hit, the kids were sick, etc. and it kept getting pushed back until last week I decided to just invite a small group over for today. And it worked out perfectly! Everyone could come on short notice, Parker was confused but excited and the girls had a great time!

Here are just some snaps from today… taken by a random assortment of people as I would yell, “please! someone! grab my camera!”

I have mommy guilt. A lot lately as I just don’t have time to do art projects or spend lots of one on one time with the kids anymore. SO last night I stayed up until 3am making that paper triangle banner-thing along with a few other projects. As if killing myself to make a few cute things for the party makes up for anything!

When I was sanding these letters I covered in paper just to lay on the food table at 2:30am I realized this was ridicules and went to bed!

Bailey helped me set this up yesterday… we put each item for their treat bags in separate containers so that after the girls decorated their bags they got to pick what went in their bags! It was fun to see which little treat got the girls excited!

It was a PINK party and the Grandpa’s didn’t disappoint! HA!

We had a SIMPLE party. They got to decorate their treat bags and decorate their own cupcakes and play. It was a really great morning!

Turn DOWN your volume a bit for this b/c i did NO editing to it! HA!

Happy LATE Birthday sweet girl! We love you so much!

Behind the Scenes: Valentine Mini Sessions

Posted on January 21, 2010

For our mini sessions last weekend we decided early on that Kim would shoot so I could video tape the whole event. And I had all the intention in the world to give you a great look at HOW we did everything. But then, well, I had 18 kids and their parents in my house so I got busy! There were plates to fill and moms to chat with, toys to pick up and people to welcome in the door. It was hard to be doing anything other than just hostessing!

So the video is a bit lacking in the HOW of it all, but it does show how busy of a day it was! And actually, busy doesn’t really do it justice because I have to tell you, even if it is a bit TMI, neither of us even peed all day! Everyone was gone by 5pm and we both looked at each other and said, “oh my gosh I have to pee!” HA! It was a busy day.

But MAN did we have fun! And I have to tell you about the three super sweet things that happened that day too! First, one of my favorite people, Amy Beachy, came with her kids in the morning and brought DINNER with her that she’d cooked for BOTH of our families! Oh yes! She made dinner for Kim’s family of NINE! It was awesome. Then another sweet client, Danielle, brought us the most amazing lunch ever! Of course we didn’t actually eat it until later that night but between those two meals I think I fed my family for two days! And then the best surprise was a friend/client/blog reader, Donna, who wasn’t even involved in the mini’s but knew I was hosting brought over a TON of homemade chocolate chip cookies for everyone! Just because! How great is that? We’re still eating those here and we all LOVE them! So thanks to all that blessed Kim and I (and our families) that day… we truly have the most amazing people surrounding us!

Thanks to everyone that participated or helped (GRANDMA!) or was involved! We will do this again!

sweet little brynn – [St. Louis Newborn Photographers]

Posted on January 20, 2010

Jodie and I got to meet sweet little Brynn yesterday.  Mom Sherri is a dear friend of mine, our boys are best buddies… as in, my Samuel will go home to spend the night with him on Friday, and Sherri and I say, “see you sometime Sunday!” because it’s just a given that they spend the entire weekend together… and vice versa.

I also remember not toooo long ago, Sherri and I talking about how we were both SO done with having babies, I’m sure she was teasing ME about having another, but both being of “advanced maternal age” we laughed and laughed… DONE!  But Miss Brynn had other plans for their family in mind!  And what a sweet little surprise she is!

Sherri told me Brynn is a very easy baby, and they hardly see her eyes open during the day…. and she was spot on!  Brynn was putty in our hands!  And she’ll also be the very first star of our tutorial videos we are hoping to share very soon!!

Hope you love these, Sherri!  (she purposely didn’t watch us so she could be surprised!)  She looks so much like big sister Emma!

We are putting together a video package for all of our clients interested in something like this from their photo shoot! Email us if you’d like more info!
