bye-bye, beach [St. Louis Photographers]
Posted on March 22, 2010
It’s always nice to be back at home…. but life is sure sweet on the beach too!
We had a great and relaxing time, and as we drove back through the night in the rain the whole way, and then the morning shuffle today, my heart was definitely right back there! I think what I loved most was how simple the week was without all the extras. I only brought 3 changes of clothes for each kid (4 for the two littles) knowing we had a washer and dryer in the house. Easy to keep up the laundry and get it put right away. We cooked every meal there, and while I cannot seem to manage that at home or have the desire most of the time, it was simple and easy and I felt good knowing everyone was eating great food all week. Well, aside from the nightly ice cream. Ha!
But the sand…. oh how nice it was to crawl into a bed without having to jump back out to brush sand out of it!
Here are a few ton more photos. None of all the kids together, just wasn’t happening! Although Abby is dying for me to replace our 3 year old canvas on our mantle of the family, so she was hoping we’d get a good one…. I’ll just need to force beg Jodie to help with that one!

three photos for lauren. – {Louisville, KY Newborn Photographers}
Posted on March 19, 2010
Charlie got to go home today, all 5 pounds 1 ounces of him! So in an effort to get home early tomorrow morning I went right over to do his newborn photos. However little Charlie had other plans! And in just under three hours I took three photos. Which is of course disappointing for everyone. So rather than add stress to my already exhausted friends I decided to leave and go back in the morning… extending my trip longer (THANK YOU MOM!) but hopefully getting Tony and Lauren more photos of their first son.
Before I head to bed though I just had to share the three photos that I captured… meaning this is my FOURTH post today which will give Kim lots of days to share more beach photos with us while I head home and hang with my very missed kiddos!
So this is for Lauren. My sweet and very tired friend. Who is already an incredible mom. With a caring and loving husband. And a tiny peanut in their arms. Love you guys.

the back roads of KY. or when I got really really lost.
Posted on March 19, 2010
I have been lost every single time I get in my car on this trip. I’m not sure what it is about Louisville but I simply can not find my way around town! But the other day, while lost, I just embraced the back roads and had fun!
It reminded me of traveling as a kid. My dad was constantly driving on private property to catch an incredible sunset or to see deer or to follow an eagle. We were always worried some crazy man with a shot gun would greet us but to my knowledge, we never got in trouble.
I am the polar opposite b/c EVERY SINGLE TIME I trespass I get kicked out!
Like this photo… one of my favorites from the trip…
I was squatting down snapping away when I noticed a SWARM of white trucks speeding towards me. I stood up, confused, until I saw a MASSIVE state prison behind them! I had no idea I was on their property as it was just cornfields and wires all around. But somehow I missed MANY obvious signs when I pulled over to capture this photo and they nicely asked me to leave!
Oh the adventures I find!
Although the guilt of leaving the kids with my parents for so many days is killing me, driving the other day and shooting whatever I wanted is just what I needed. Not to mention the hotel room all to myself where I can get work done and just be ALONE! This little break was much much needed! Thanks to everyone back home caring for the kids and taking care of the house!

Yesterday I spent some time with little Charlie in the hospital, capturing time with his grandparents, but I also got to hang out with the Haffendorfer family at a GORGEOUS park here in Louisville! Lindsey is an old family friend and it was great to see her kids on the best spring day I’ve witnessed this year… although my allergies are protesting this amazing weather!
Thanks Lindsey, Nicole, Charlie and Emma! It was great hanging out with you guys!

Charlie – {Louisville, KY Birth Photographer}
Posted on March 17, 2010
This morning at 2:22am tiny little Charlie Esterly entered the world! All 5lbs 10oz and 18inches of him! In Kentucky no less, and I was able to make it in plenty of time to capture the amazing event!
Witnessing a birth is always miraculous, but there is something just that much more special when you see your friends become parents for the first time! The tears streaming down my face made focusing difficult this morning for sure!
I am thrilled for Tony and Lauren and I can’t wait to head back to the hospital tonight to capture Tony’s parents meeting their first grandchild, to capture first moments tomorrow (after Lauren has had a bit of time to rest) and to do Charlie’s newborn session when he comes home later this week!
I’m fairly exhausted after just a few hours sleep so I will talk more about my trip later… for now enjoy Charlie’s very first photos!
This was the “we’re going to start pushing” excitement! HA!
I can’t wait to share more of little Charlie this week…
