Mohr Mini Sessions | The Deschamp Family
Posted on March 28, 2011
We have over 20 families to blog so in an effort to get all these sneak peeks done I’m going to keep the writing to a minimum and attempt to post two posts per day! This many sessions and this many sneak peeks would take me over a month if we did a normal sneak peek! SO. Unlike normal I’m not going to go into detail about each of these amazing families, I’m just going to show you their images. But PLEASE know we ADORE them all and what their money is doing for the Mohr family!

Sweetest little guy around and such a JOYFUL way to start the day! (HA! That rhymed!)

Mohr Mini Sessions | Felicity
Posted on March 27, 2011
I’m starting this blog explosion OUT OF ORDER which drives Kim insane! HA! She is much more organized than I am so we’re starting out of order but from here on out we’re going in order of the shoots from the day. And although I know this drives her crazy, she did agree we needed to start with sweet Felicity.
12 year old Felicity was nominated for this session by her amazing Aunt Jessica. Jessica lives in Kansas City and Felicity lives in Canada! She happened to be in town visiting Jessica on this exact weekend so Jessica drove all the way over for the session! EIGHT hours of driving for a 20 minute session! Are you kidding me? That’s amazing. I told Jessica she is the Aunt I hope to be and that couldn’t be more true. She even hired a make-up artist to make the trek with them! A shopping trip for a new dress and I’m not sure Felicity could have had a better day!
Katie and Dana rocked out the styling and the make-up artist, Kristin Peterson (of All Dolled Up, find her on FB!), did an awesome job! Felicity was so cute and I was DYING over her lips and eyes! TO DIE FOR features that some women pay big money for! She’s going to break some hearts some day! The most important part of this not-so-mini mini session? Felicity. I hope she takes these images and saves them. I hope that when she’s 16 or 25 or 40 she’ll look at these and know how beautiful she is. A true natural beauty. And according to her Aunt, she’s even more gorgeous inside. I wish we could have spent tons more time with this sweet girl (and Jessica!) but luckily we managed to get so many shots of her in a short amount of time!
Jessica and Felicity, enjoy your sneak peek!
Jessica, thanks for trusting US with your niece. For believing that we could capture her as she is. I hope you’re happy with the images you worked so hard to get!
And to everyone that donated money to the mini sessions… this sweet girl benefited from your donation. Thank you.

Mohr Mini Sessions | behind the scenes!
Posted on March 27, 2011
We will be blogging about these mini sessions for quite some time because 1. there were over 20 families we met and photographed yesterday and 2. we want to take our time and not do one big blog dump of all these awesome kids!
Just FYI… all shots in this post are SOOC (straight out of the camera) b/c we have enough photos to edit this week! HA! And most were taken by Missy as she walked around with my camera all day! Thanks Mis!
Highlights of the day:
1. The SPACE. A huge thanks to Jassen Johnson for allowing us to use the awesome building and THANK GOODNESS we had the foresight to move it indoors because St. Louis had one of the biggest March snow storms yesterday! We ended up with over 5 inches of snow! And lets just say that Kim and I dreamed ALL day of owning/renting a space like that for a studio! UGH! So hard to have studio-envy!
2. The PEOPLE. We had amazing volunteers to help us pull off photographing almost 50 kids in one day! Missy, Devona, Sara, Dana, Hannah worked SO hard to help us. I could go on and on they were so great and we literally couldn’t have done it without them!
In order: Devona, Hannah, Sara, Dana and Missy
THANK YOU girls!
We also had lunch delivered by Nicole and Kelly! Thanks for bringing a delicious lunch during our quick break in the middle of the day! It was so nice to sit for a minute and eat something besides fast food! And whoever made the brownies is a genius! Thank you!
Thanks also to Kasey for the Starbucks run… for those that needed a coffee boost! And I personally need to thank Russ for running all over the city to find me a fountain Mnt. Dew in a styrofoam cup! He was so awesome!
AND the families. Who were patient and understanding and helpful! They made the day run so smoothly!
3. The SET. Kim, Katie and I worked SO hard on the backdrops for the shoot. We easily could have hung some paper and made it work. Or found some good fabric or bought some photo backdrops. But we really wanted to make these sessions unique so we brainstormed and got crafty!
left to right.. the torn fabric we showed you last week that I made by picking out crazy fabrics, tearing them and tying them onto a backdrop stand, decks or cards sewn together made by Katie, ribbon+yarn just simply tied on by me and Kim and finally the felt dots and puff balls made by Katie. We own one backdrop which is all we need for our newborn work. Thank goodness Devona owned one too that we could borrow and then the scaffolding was in the building so we borrowed that too! We are experts at making do with what we have on hand! We lined them up like this so we could just move our light+reflector up and down the wall based on what the kids were wearing and what they matched. What you can’t see is that we also used one brick wall for some shots and an antique door with the most amazing paper sculpture we snagged from Two Blue Doors (you’ll see it in the sneak peeks!). If you have questions about how we set this all up please leave questions in the comments and we’ll answer them all there!
4. The DONATIONS. We handed each of our families a fabulous gift bag full of fun products and great coupons. We will do an entire blog post soon to link to all of these awesome companies!
5. The MOHRS. People thanked us all day for what we were doing for the Mohr family but it truly was our pleasure. They are so fun to work with, collaborate with and well, help! We adore them. And we are so happy that a little work on our part will help bring their little man home! They are the best parents and this new baby is so blessed to be a part of their life!
So in no particular order here are some other behind the scenes shots! Remember… sooc!

Same baby a year+ later! HA! And she’s still not as tall as her print!
It was a good good day. We are all really really tired. And now Kim and I have a whole lot of photos to edit! Let the work continue with TONS more blog posts coming soon!
Thanks again to everyone that helped make this day go so perfectly!

Azelie | St. Louis Newborn Photographers
Posted on March 24, 2011
Tuesday we got to take a break from spring break and hang out with the Horn family! And listen, sometimes a break from all the family time is a GOOD break! So three hours letting the kids have some Daddy time was awesome and so was Regan, Jonathan and Azelie!
Sweet Azelie broke her clavicle during her birth so we waited a little while for her newborn photos to make sure it was safe. She was just under 3 weeks old which normally means a not-so-sleepy baby but OH Azelie surprised us and ROCKED out her session! She barely woke up at all, ate only once and we cruised! You got a little sneak peek the other day so here are some more!
Ok, let me pop in here to give you the link to this AWESOME headband! We didn’t mention in her last tiny sneak peek b/c we have a full post coming soon all about these headbands but because we’ve had people asking already go HERE and be amazed at the talent of our friend Holly!
Can I mention that she made us CUSTOM ones for the Mohr Minis? Yeah. She’s rad like that! Can’t wait to show you!
Alright, back to the babe!
A big thank you to Holly for letting us play with her new designs, they are AWESOME and we can’t wait to show you more after this weekend! Another big thank you to Regan and Jonathan of course for bringing over such a sweet and easy going baby girl! She’s gorgeous and I’m SO mad we didn’t force Regan in a few shots b/c talk about gorgeous! Seriously, she’s beautiful. Just means we need to see this family again one day!
Congrats Horn family on Azelie. She’s perfect!
Coming soon… a carnival of Mohr Mini session photos! We will be shooting from 8am-7pm on Saturday! HA! It’s going to be the most amazingly crazy fun insane day ever! And MAN are we all going to be exhausted when it’s over! Can’t wait to see all the families signed up and can’t wait to share the goodness that day will be!

Russ Mohr is awesome AND a Mohr Mini Session sneak peek AND a tiny sneak peek for Azelie
Posted on March 22, 2011
Whew. Longest blog title in history.
First, you’ve ALL heard of the Mohr family by now and you know we’re hosting mini sessions to help off-set the cost of their upcoming adoption. What you may not know unless you know them personally, is that Russ is an incredible musician. I mean amazing.
Here’s a little back story, one I’ve never even told Russ.
I left college in my junior to come home and go to college locally, simply because I had a broken heart, had lost myself and was floundering. A good friend encouraged me to go to a new church in Kirkwood called Greentree Church. There I met a best friend, Jessica, and she encouraged me to go to their college group called Damascus Road. My first night at DR I met the Mohrs. They were a young married couple which was SO foreign for me as I’d just had my heart broken and so desperately wanted to be in their shoes but couldn’t imagine ever being there. And as DR started that first night, Russ lead worship. I grew up in the Episcopal church and contemporary worship music brought me closer to God than I ever knew was possible. It’s funny, but there are still some songs that I hear and can imagine exactly how Russ sang them all those years ago. When I found out through the grapevine about their story of coming home with Elliot I emailed them immediately and offered to capture his first year at HOME for free. I offered that because they had such a huge impact in my relationship with the Lord I wanted to give back to them in any way I could. And to this day I still feel that way. No amount of work or time or energy I can give back will ever compare to them, Russ especially, having such a huge part in my walk with Christ. Although I would bet a million dollars he has no idea he played such a huge part in my testimony!
So he’s awesome. And his music is awesome. And for $10 you can go HERE and download his latest worship album! ALL proceeds go to their adoption.
Did you catch that?
Also, check out how he used our photo of him and his graphic design skills to make the artwork for the new album!

Someday when he wins a Grammy I hope he remembers us! HA!
AND last but not least tonight… we got to hang out with one of the sweetest babies today… Azelie! Her official sneak peek will come Wed/Thurs but tonight I had to show you a couple shots so that all of our Mohr Mini families can get a sneak at ONE of the awesome backdrops we’ve created for Saturday!

I am OBSESSED with that backdrop! We’ll share the behind the scenes soon!
But for all the families coming Saturday… it’s all going to be SUPER colorful and fun behind your kiddos so please bring clothes that coordinate! I’m sure Katie’s told you we don’t allow matching so get creative! And if you need to bring multiple outfits for Katie to choose from, bring them! We want to ROCK the 20 minutes you have! We’ll also have TONS of headbands for the little girls in the group! Some made especially for this set of minis using the fabric we bought! SO cool! More details on that soon too!
It’s a big week and we’re working so hard to get ready for Saturday! IF you emailed me to volunteer that day… we’ve moved inside so please email me for the address if I forgot to email you! Otherwise, check back soon for more of sweet Azelie (I wish we would have made her momma get in some b/c she is beyond adorable!)! Oh ok, you want one more of that baby girl?
Alright. You twisted my arm!
