New Overlays from Vol. 25!
Posted on May 16, 2011
Kim and I are dying over Jessica Rose’s newest overlay set!
I sent Kim the files for the overlays and asked her to send me back a few images… she did such a good job I didn’t have to wait until tonight to work on some myself and then blog! Thanks for doing the leg work today Kimberly! HA!
The best part of Jessica’s overlays is that they are SO easy to use on any image! Newborns, maternity, engagement, wedding, family, etc. They would even be fun to take an ordinary family snap shot and make it more fun!

This one totally cracks me up! Can’t wait for their wedding this fall!
Head over to Jessica’s site HERE to order your overlays today! A great way to make your summer photos pop! Oh and check out THIS new print she just put in her shop! I’m in love!

The birth of Levi | St. Louis Birth Photography
Posted on May 12, 2011
Yesterday Kim and I got to spend the day with an awesome family while they awaited the birth of Levi. And by waited, I mean, they waited and watched Megan labor for over 30 hours! And after all that time when she was still only dilated to a 5 they decided to do a c-section. For Megan’s sake we hated it had to end like that because she would have loved to deliver vaginally, but in the end they had a healthy baby boy and all was well with the world!
We will get more images and their video up soon, but since we got home after 1am, this was all we could muster for right now! Actually, since Kim was the one in the operating room with them she was the one who got the images done early this morning! Kudos to Kim for working so fast today! Great job friend!

Finniest photo ever! He obviously wasn’t happy with Kim and her camera! HA! When she showed us this on the back of her camera last night we all totally cracked up!
Great work my friend! More soon!

Tim and Tonya | St. Louis Maternity Photography
Posted on May 11, 2011
Kim and I loved hanging out with Tonya and Tim the other night in one of our favorite little fields! They are SO sweet to each other and you can see how excited they are to become parents and how much they already love this little baby!
The other thing we loved is that Tonya came with a huge bag of props she wanted to use! Made our job pretty darn easy!

A new trick Tonya helped us learn is to follow our client’s Pinterest boards! We instantly had a good idea of what Tonya likes because she had boards devoted to photography, baby, etc. Such a helpful tool!

I love that you can see how much fun they have! They are going to be such joyful parents! We can’t wait to meet this little one in just a few short weeks! Thanks you guys… it was SO good to finally meet you!

Aubrey | St. Louis Newborn Photography | And a peak at our studio!
Posted on May 9, 2011
Last week we got to meet up with little Aubrey at just fives days old! She was a peanut and SO sweet (and SLEEPY which we of course love!). We were able to do so many fun shots with her because she just slept on and on for us!
Normally our clients book us months in advance… we’ve even had a few moms call us before they have told their family they’re pregnant! HA! But more and more lately we’re getting last minute calls like we did from Aubrey’s parents who called us three days after she was born! That’s happened more in 2011 than ever before and although it makes us scramble quite a bit, we ALWAYS fit in our babies! And we have to give a big shout out to Clary Pfeiffer and LeLe Photography for sending us some referrals lately (Aubrey was referred from LeLe!)! We SO love that other awesome St. Louis photogs are sending clients our way! Thanks girls!
Also, tonight I am working on adding a tab to our blogsite called “the studio” so please check it out! Some of the behind the scenes shots I’m going to share here will be in there with MUCH more so you can see where we’re setting up camp these days (and more importantly, WHY!)!
We just can’t let our fabric backdrop die! So we cut it up and threw this together just before they got there! Total credit to Kim for the idea!

We also are still loving all the yarn we used at the Mohr Minis!

Thanks to Soap and Erin for bringing sweet Aubrey our way! And check back later for the full peek into the studio!

Carsyn | St. Louis Children’s Photographers (and a Mother’s Day post too!)
Posted on May 8, 2011
There is one family I have a deal with and have for a few years now. We barter. She has three kids (two girls and a boy) just like me but her youngest is the same age as my oldest which makes trading images for clothes a great deal for both of us! I get all of her amazing hand-me-downs and she gets birthday photos for each of her kids! It’s been a huge blessing to our family and I hope that it’s been a blessing to theirs as well. The other blessing I’ve gotten is just to know Amy better. If there was one mom out there I really looked up to it would be her. And even though I remind myself she can’t possibly have it together ALL the time, she must come pretty darn close! She just exudes passion for her kids in everything she does and I love that.
And although I was going to post this earlier when I was blind sided by my amazing best friend blogging for me (!) I still wanted to post this on Mother’s Day because my gift to Amy, after all the inspiration she’s given me, was spending a few hours of MY Mother’s Day getting Carsyn’s images done for her! Because she’s awesome and I wanted to make sure she knows it!
BTW. I feel I also need the whole world to know… I was the crappiest best friend this past week to Angie. I was selfish and rude and unhelpful during a hard week for her. And yet, she still thought of me today. It’s why we’re best friends. She lets me rant and rage and get it out of my system knowing my “junk” is short-lived and still loves me on the other end. I was sitting in Target’s parking lot after taking the girls swim suit shopping, wondering why in the HELL did I make myself try on suits on Mother’s Day, when I checked my phone for email and saw Amy’s comment on Angie’s post. While the girls got buckled I sat there, tears streaming down my face as I read Angie’s post. So amazing and undeserved.
And so. This just brings it full-circle. Thanks to Ang for being the kind of friend I hope to be someday and to Amy who is the mother I strive to be. I love surrounding myself with women who are better than me because it gives me something to work for! Like my friend Adriane who has the kindest heart I know and Kim who has patience beyond what I can fathom (working with me is NOT easy!) and my sister who is the best teacher to her girls I’ve ever seen. And of course to my mother-in-law who truly KNOWS me and gives me gifts that make me burst into tears. And to my own mom, who has taught me that being a good mom sometimes means being an even better friend as she’s always there for me, never judging me, constantly supporting me and cheering me on (louder than anyone). So THANK YOU to all of the incredible women in my life and to all of the Moms out there… I hope you got to do just what you wanted to do today! We ALL deserve at least one day to celebrate US!
Happy Mother’s Day!

Ode to Jod
Posted on May 8, 2011
I met Jodie when she was pregnant with Gray and I was pregnant with Kelsey. We connected instantly, truly bonded in friendship and motherhood from the start.
I’m not sure I can articulate ALL the reasons I admire and respect Jodie as a mom, but I’m certain it’s centered around her heart and the depth of her commitment to her kids. So while we read regular (sometimes, daily) posts about sickness, moments of frustration, Dew-to-the-max kind of days – the real Jod is in those posts capturing everyday hikes, 52 Smiles projects, never-seen-before room mom events, and simple craft-filled, bubble-blowing days intended to surround her kids with pure l-o-v-e. (BTW, I don’t know how to do those “HERE” link thingies that let you jump right to the posts I mean, which is yet another baffling reason as to why Jodie spends any time with me.)
My wish for this Mother’s Day is to raise Jodie up. To do all I can to help her feel the love and support she creates for her kids and all of us as her mommy co-pilots. I’d like to do this not by asking you to send her some Post Love (although that’d be cool), instead I’ll encourage us all to take a Jodified Moment today. Huh? I’ll loosely define it as “personal time on this, our Mother’s Day, to exercise our God-given talents and personal passions.” Set aside your to-do list and obligations to write, paint, garden, cook or snap a few extra images. Whatever “it” is that truly feeds your soul. In that moment, kind of like fairy dust landing on your shoulders, you’ll know that you’ve been Jodified. And I hope you’ll smile and maybe even encourage others to do the same.
Happy Mother’s Day, Jod. Today’s Jodified Moments are inspired by you!
Ang/BFF
