Valentine’s Day is coming! | St. Louis Boudoir Photography

Ok ladies! I was at Target today and Christmas was all but gone and the Valentine decorations were coming out! That means it’s time to start thinking of doing something special for your hubby/boyfriend/girlfriend/whatever AND even more importantly something special for yourself!

We have a suite at the Ritz Carlton booked for Saturday January 7th and an awesome introductory priced boudoir session! Only $350 for everything! Katie Mohr, stylist extraordinaire, will be there and we have lots of fun things planned! Think treats and drinks and music and well, we’re going to do everything we can to make the day FUN and comfortable AND relaxing! Katie and I are SO excited!

Who doesn’t want to hang out with me and Katie at the Ritz? I mean seriously.

AND if you need to go shopping (1-2 outfits is plenty plus shoes/accessories and Katie can help with hair/make-up!) we can certainly help you with ideas! Just let us know if you want some help! OR you might have something you’ve been saving that’s perfect!

I did a session with my sister and she gave her husband a little album for Christmas… ABBIE PLEASE LEAVE A COMMENT AND TELL EVERYONE ABOUT YOUR EXPERIENCE!

The 2012 Fresh Mini Session Winner is….

I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and are enjoying the days leading up to the new year with your families! We’ve had awesome family time, fun play time, great hikes and more adventures to come this week while we both enjoy time off work.

I’m taking time to dream of what 2012 will bring Fresh Art too and I can’t wait to share my ideas with you! Or maybe I’ll be so busy playing with my kids none of my ideas will have time to be developed and that’s ok too!

FIRST SOME BUSINESS.

I have a few orders to get out (emails coming tomorrow night!) and I will still be answering emails (although not super fast) but everything else, the blog included, will be taking a break until after Christmas. I have gifts to make+buy still, wrapping to start+finish, memories to create, and family to spend time with. For the first time ever I’m closing shop and enjoying this holiday! If there’s anything urgent please email or call me. Otherwise, I hope you have a beautiful week with your family+friends and love every minute! I’m SO loving the magic of Christmas through my kid’s eyes this year. Chris and I are having a blast too!

This will be quick b/c mom already has some images for Christmas (none shown here) and I’m doing something we never do… only showing some black and white ones. I was just loving her in black and white tonight so that’s what you get!

Emerson has a beautiful story but it’s not mine to tell. She was just adopted by an incredible family though and I know for certain this is going to be their best Christmas ever!

Isn’t she perfect? A great way to leave the blog for a little while I think!

The Mohr Family (as if they need an introduction!) | St. Louis Lifestyle Family Photography

I just sat and watched Boys and Girls on Netflix (live streaming to our tv is magical!) while I finished editing this sneak peek. Was anyone else completely in love with Freddie Prinze when they were in high school? Anyone? Oh how I love finding my favorite movies from high school on Netflix! It seems appropriate because I can see Katie having some serious cheesy love story addictions too.

Ahem.

The photos.

So first, let me preface this by saying that 2012 is going to see a lot of changes for Fresh Art. ONE being the introduction of BOUDOIR SESSIONS! So excited about that! So is Katie (stylist extraordinaire)! But the other big change is that I’m going to start doing lifestyle photography again. It’s been a long time since I wasn’t just capturing my own family in a lifestyle/documentary-style fashion and I can’t wait to do more of these sessions.

Do I love our studio work (newborns specifically)? Yes. Do I love completely stylized+posed family sessions in cool+funky locations? Absolutely. But there’s just been something missing and that’s lifestyle. What’s so neat about a lifestyle session is that I am literally just in your home capturing YOU. What your family loves to do together and all the small moments in between. In my honest opinion, it’s these images you’ll run into a burning house to save, even over a beautifully styled session. These are your moments. This is your life. And not just captured by you, but with you IN it.

When Katie said she wanted a six month session of Des we talked and decided capturing them at home would be best. They are a new family of four and want to remember these exhausting days!

Take into account (when considering a lifestyle session) that these photos are mostly in black/white so that all the colors/things in your home don’t distract you from the people. They are also grainy. And in low light (usually). But truly I think that just adds to the magic.

Lifestyle is back baby!

Are these sessions actually and completely lifestyle? No, not really. We threw in some semi-posed shots. Because ultimately every family craves that one great shot with everyone looking at the camera and smiling. And I’m sure they were dressed a little nicer than a normal Saturday morning! But kids can’t fake it. When you get out Candy Land they’re going to get excited. When you open a book they’re going to cuddle in your lap and listen. When you get on the floor to play with them they’re going to play and totally forget that I’m there.

Thanks Mohrs! It was so much fun capturing your family… definitely my favorite session with you ever!

Announcing Fresh BOUDOIR Sessions | St. Louis Boudoir Photography

My friend and awesome stylist, Katie Mohr, and I have been working behind the scenes on a new project! And I am SO excited to finally share it with you!

We are going to start offering boudoir sessions for women! Throughout the year we will have days of mini sessions and there will be a full package you can book at any time. All of this info will be added to “the sessions” soon but for now I’m offering a crazy deal on our first day of mini sessions! Normally these will be priced higher but we want to get our feet wet with a full day of sessions so I’m starting off with this super low price for a 45 minute session and 10 images on a high-res disk.

What is a boudoir session? Well, it’s sexy. And empowering. Here is what one woman had to say after her session…. “I wanted to say how much I appreciate ALL you did to make this dream a reality. I had been thinking about this for three years and you made it not only doable but fun, empowering and one of the true highlights of my adult life. Thank you for fitting me into a very full schedule and making me look and feel so beautiful. The pictures are a treasure to both me and my husband.”

Katie is there to help with make-up, wardrobe, hair, etc. while I’m helping to get you in the most flattering poses as I photograph you. Do you have to be a size two? ABSOLUTELY NOT! Truly, it’s all about posing to highlight your best features and editing to bring the image to perfection!

This will be such a fun day if it’s anything like the sessions we’ve been working on and I can wrap up a gift card because this will make a great Christmas gift! Even if you have to gift it to yourself!

The BONUS? I will have all disks to you by the end of January so you can gift the images or an album to your husband for Valentine’s Day!
