here comes the bride…finally.

Well, it only took me a month but I got it done! I had no idea editing 384 photos would take so long! WHEW!  And because they’ve been waiting patiently to see their photos and because this took me so long and because this couple is adorable and it was my first ever wedding and I’m so proud of this work I am going to post a million photos… but not right now b/c all the kids are up and my time is limited, so here are a few!  And leave a comment so this couple feels loved!

Meet my first bride, Vikki and her new husband John! They were married at the end of July at the Missouri Botanical Gardens…

Wow. I can’t believe I photographed a wedding. A huge thanks to Erin who shot with me and a HUGE thanks to Vikki for trusting that I could do it! Vikki, I hope you like them!

He couldn’t get out of here fast enough.

Today is the first day of school for Chris. Which means it’s the first day of single parenting for me. If any of you have coached or are married to a coach you understand. A coaches wife is a widow. I’m a soccer widow to be specific.  Everyday now, until November, he will leave the house at 6am and get home around 8pm.

I’m not great at math but I know that’s a long time.

SO, as he was skipping out the door I was hanging onto his heels trying to drag him back. His quick feet won the battle and he’s gone. See you in 13 hours honey.

Let’s see. It’s 7am and I’ve served breakfast, changed 2 diapers, broke up countless arguments, washed my hands a dozen times b/c Parker has a runny nose, cleaned up the kitchen and am blogging.  I have a client coming here for an infant shoot at 9:30am (I did this yesterday also and it worked so great!), I have my friend Jessica coming at 9am to help wrangle kids, I have a wedding to post b/c HELL YEAH I finished the wedding photos and I have a bunch of other junk waiting in the wings. Like laundry.

It’s Monday and it’s a full one. And to start your week out with a smile I’m going to show you my little astronaut…

Remember this?

Now we have this!

My official NASA baby! Thanks again Grandpa Allen!

I found a box of boy clothes I’d put in the attic for when he was big enough to wear 3-6 month outfits and LOW AND BEHOLD he’s outgrown them already! This kid is a moose! Oh yes, my 2 month old is wearing 6-9 month and even 9-12 month things! It’s crazy. So thank goodness I got this outfit on him last night as it won’t fit for long!

Alright people. Have a great Monday! I’m outta here!

come join me!

Wednesday morning at 10am my mom and I are taking the kids to the Babaloo Concert at The Galleria!

Cdcover

Come join us! We LOVE Babaloo in this house!

All Good.

Just wanted to update you on Grayson so those of you praying will know yours prayers have been answered!

He’s fine. No issues with his brain and she’s confident that they’ll fade significantly by his second or third birthday. If we still feel they are too noticeable at that time we can meet with her again to talk about laser treatments. At this point we just wait and watch them fade!

The scariest part was that the second she walked in a look of concern crossed her face, briefly, as she grabbed him and held him UPSIDE DOWN for a few minutes. Bailey and I both looked at her like she was crazy b/c she had barely said hello at this point. When she laid him back on the table she said, "ok, nothing to worry about!"

Really? I hadn’t been too worried…

I am going to thank my pediatrician for not telling me exactly what she was afraid he might have b/c I would have literally been living in a state of panic.  Basically, if his birthmarks had puffed out and turned a blueish color while upside down then he would have had some kind of brain disorder, the name of which I have forgotten already. She didn’t go into details, and frankly I’m glad she didn’t!

Once we were out of there and he had a clean bill of health, the panic hit. Just for a few minutes. It was almost like when your kid has a big fall and you keep it together for them until you know they’re ok and then you meltdown.  I left there just thinking about WHAT IF his birthmarks had turned blue when she flipped him over, WHAT IF he was really sick and I didn’t know it, WHAT IF.

Obviously the WHAT IFs are nothing and he’s fine. It was just scary to think about what my pediatrician had been worried about this entire time. And of course it made me think of Baby Noah and how easily that could have been Grayson. And it made me hug him tighter as we walked to the car.

SO everything is great. It’s the day after no sleep so I feel good, 2 hours of sleep will hit me tomorrow or Sunday harder. The yard guys are here taking care of what we couldn’t all summer. Parker is happily at "school". Bailey, Grayson and I are headed to lunch with my mom and her friend Pat. Then I’ll hopefully have at least an hour of synchronized sleep from these two to get some work in! Hopefully!

It’s Friday! Did you know that? In this house it means an entire afternoon of work for me tomorrow while C has the kids! It means an entire day on Sunday for me to work! It means dinner out with the MacBryde’s tomorrow!!! It means it’s the weekend people! Have a great one!

I whistle while I work…

Well, not really. But I do watch reruns on TBS, eat pretzels and drink soda while I work.

Because my eyes are fuzzy (the eye doc said my eyes are fine btw, just that i must get tired while working… really? you think?) I’m done editing tonight but thought I would share a few sneak peeks…

Almost done with the wedding… Vikki, I swear I’m working as fast as possible!

Starting to think about working on these two shoots…

(both of those are just sooc: straight out of the camera)

I also need to post Jen’s senior album, the MacBryde maternity shoot album and the Hornberger family shoot.

I also need to sleep.

Tomorrow we have Grayson’s dermatologist appointment in the morning to find out about his birthmarks. Chris is at school in meetings and Parker will be at day care so it’ll just be me, Bailey and Grayson going. Pray all goes well!  I also have an appointment with my OB to get Mirena! It’s a 5 year IUD and I am VERY excited to be baby free for a few years! Or forever. Whatever.

Big day tomorrow and if I fall asleep RIGHT NOW I am guaranteed at least 2 hours of sleep!  It’s almost 1am, Gray will be up any time now, again at 3am and the girls are up around 5am. Nice. I will be dreaming of my fountain Mountain Dew.

An update

Wanted to direct you to my friend Erin’s blog today where she talks about little Noah’s funeral…

Go HERE.

I’m tired today. Headache, eyes sore, heavy, tired. I go on cycles of some sort I think… every 4-6 weeks or so I have an emotional breakdown day and then a week or so after that I hit my exhausted day. I’m not sure I’ve peaked today or not, but man I am just so tired. 2-4 hours of sleep for 10 weeks now is just NOT ENOUGH.

But a girl’s gotta work.

So I’ve called Imo’s to bring me a Mnt. Dew and maybe in an hour or so all will be better.

I’m inching along in keeping up with my shoots so bear with me in getting them blogged… and I have fun family photos I need to post… AND you won’t believe this, but I’m almost caught up on my Photo 365! Oh yes, I have been TAKING the photos (almost) daily, I’ve just been SO bad about posting them.

So much to blog, so little time…

Be back later hopefully…

Just a few more

of these cute girls…

I love this next one b/c I asked them to do model poses for me and this is what they came up with!
20080805_0433

So you see little Sarah on the right? So cute!

And I love this next series… Kellie has had each girl photographed at about the same age holding flowers and wearing that little white dress with red flowers. The photos are framed and hanging in their living room and look adorable! It was Sarah’s turn to wear the dress so we went to The Jewel Box to find some flowers…

And just to show you my understanding as a mom and flexibility as a photographer…

20080805_0399bw

A storm was rolling in and Masen was afraid of the lightening… so to bribe her for just a few more I agreed to go to their house the next day to take photos of her and her cat!

20080806_0568bw

I’m not a cat person but they turned out super cute!

Thanks Hornbergers!

Next week I’m shooting Kellie’s sister’s two girls! I can’t wait to meet them!

Three little girls.

In an attempt to catch up, my goal for today is to get three albums online… Jen’s seniors, The Hornberger’s and Kelsey MacBryde. We’ll see what happens.

For now at least, here are some favorites from the Hornberger shoot…

Will post more later… the little guy is waking up and I get to take need to take Parker to school!

A holiday obsession is brewing.

I don’t know what’s happening to me lately, but I’m becoming obsessed with searching for Halloween costume ideas for the kids and Christmas gift ideas.

HALLOWEEN:

Any ideas for three little ones? Any sites with reasonably priced but good quality costumes? Last year we bought from Old Navy and LOVED the costumes but was sad to see the choices haven’t changed this year! I would love for the kids to coordinate… my ideas so far:

1. The three little pigs
2. Grayson as a football player and the girls as cheerleaders

And that’s it. HELP!

CHRISTMAS:

I am SICK of all the crap in this house the girls never play with. All the brightly colored plastic toys sit dusty while they play everyday with the hot chocolate container I washed out, cut a slit in the lid and put in poker chips! They LOVE their play food but don’t use the kitchen we have, they love dress-ups and they SORT OF play with all the Little People sets we have. Anyway, my goal for this year is to get rid of the stuff they don’t touch and replace it with ALL wood toys. Learning toys preferably. The issue is that they are expensive, like crazy expensive, and we don’t have lots of money. The flip side is that a solid wood toy will last FOREVER. And I like that. I like the thought of buying something my grandkids could play with.  Here is my wish list so far…

1. cash register: love this!
1597

2. new kitchen i think they’ like better:

Ii_367

3. magnetic kitchen bottles: so cute!

Md653

4. Doll house I’ve dreamed of for years (and I want all the accessories too!)

Pi_17033

5. Flower matching game

Pi_17654

6. Train table and trains (Bailey especially loves this)

Ii_303

7. The list could go on and on… I have saved at least 15 links to things on my wish list!

If you think I’m crazy for thinking about Christmas already, the reason is so that I can start buying one or two gifts a month so the cost is spread out. We can’t afford to be hit with big costs in any one month, especially the winter months when I’m slower with shoots. So I’m dreaming now, will make a final list, share a few items with family if they want ideas and then start buying.

Do you have any ideas or websites I should check out for toys like these? I would love a few more games and some more baby toys for Grayson. I’m also going to start looking on Ebay b/c I bet I can find a lot of these items, or ones like them, cheaper. Maybe Craigs List too? Anyone have great wood toys they want to sell me?

AND I have been working! I have 4 shoots to share, albums to get up here and I’m ALMOST done with the wedding! I can’t wait to share those!

For now, since I finished a shoot tonight (Kellie I will drop the disk off tomorrow hopefully!) I’m celebrating by some more internet searching!

forwards.

I hate forwards. Hate them. Except when they make me almost wet myself!

Rather then send this to every mom in my address book I thought I would just share this one here… yes. It’s that good.

A man came home from work
and found his three children outside, still in their pajamas, playing
in the mud, with empty food boxes and wrappers strewn all around the
front yard.

The door of his wife’s car was open, as was the front door to the house and there was no sign of the dog.

Proceeding
Into the entry, he found an even bigger mess. A lamp had been knocked
over, and the throw rug was wadded against one wall.

In the
front room the TV was loudly blaring a cartoon channel, and the family
room was strewn with toys and various items of clothing.

In the kitchen, dishes filled the sink, breakfast food was spilled on the counter, the fridge door was open wide, dog food was spilled on the floor, a broken glass lay
under the table, and a small pile of sand was spread by the back door.

He
quickly headed up the stairs, stepping over toys and more piles of
clothes, looking for his wife. He was worried she might be ill, or that
something serious had happened.

He was met with a small trickle
of water as it made its way out the bathroom door. As he peered inside
he found wet towels, scummy soap and more toys strewn over the floor.
Miles of toilet paper lay in a heap and toothpaste had been smeared over the mirror and walls.

As
he rushed to the bedroom, he found his wife still curled up in the bed
in her pajamas, reading a novel. She looked up at him, smiled, and
asked how his day went.

He looked at her bewildered and asked, ‘What happened here today?’

She again smiled and answered, ‘You know every day when you come home from work and you ask me what in the world I do all
day?’

‘Yes,’ was his incredulous reply.

She answered, ‘Well, today I didn’t do it.’

Priceless

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Considering yesterday I washed/dried/put away 6 loads of laundry, ran the dishwasher twice, vacuumed, mopped, cleaned the bathroom, painted with Bailey, made a new game for the girls (yes, another felt game!), played, gathered things for Good Will, cooked chicken for the week, cooked a real dinner and cared for three kids all day this really hit home!

Thanks Carey for sending it!

TODAY:  Me and the troops are at my mom’s b/c we woke up today with no water. Thanks water main break! I’m about to take a shower and then leave the girls here for a while so Grayson and I can go to the Sams Club Vision Center to get my eyes checked. Things are getting blurry and I’m scared glasses are in my future. I also have about 2,000 photos to edit, groceries to buy and emails to answer. It’s a full one and sitting here isn’t getting it started fast enough!
