30.

1. I loved THIS post from Cathy (do you like how I talk about her like we’re friends?) and thought I would totally steal her idea while showing you some photos I took yesterday while playing with the macro lens.

2. The list will be 30 items long because my thirty years was thrown in my face this weekend when i found my second gray hair and made Chris yank it out for me. Which means this weekend there will be two right?

3. I eat couscous a few times a week b/c I love to mix in the most random things but most times it comes out lumpy, until last week when we were out of butter margarine and I tried adding just a bit of olive oil. Now it is pure awesomeness.

4. When older women used to watch me walk into the grocery store with Gray, an infant in the sling, Parker, my one year old on my hip and Bailey, my two year old holding onto my pants (a very great trick when you have no more hands to hold kids) they always asked if I needed help. I would laugh a bit and say that I had my hands full but I was ok. And ALWAYS they would pause for a minute to tell me that it ONLY GETS WORSE. To enjoy these moments because it gets harder. I will now admit that it gets DIFFERENT but to all of you moms with little ones (younger than my little ones) I want to tell you that IT GETS EASIER! The hardest time in my life was having two under two and three under three. This is like a vacation compared to that. Just sayin’.

5. I am obsessed with the show American Pickers on The History Channel. If I ever give up photography I would LOVE that job!

6. I am in love LOVE with my Nikon and wishing I never started with Canon. I know. Surprising. BUT when moms ask me which camera to buy to take better photos with their kids I still say the Canon Rebel.

7. I also love the show Pawn Stars on The History Channel.

8. I went soda free for 6 days before ear infections in 2 of 3 kids drove me back. Weight loss as motivation is just not the best motivation right now. Even though I hate how I look.

9. Next weekend Kim will be out of town so we have no sessions and Chris will be gone for five days. As “easy” as my kids are I am NOT looking forward to being alone with the kids for so long!

10. Kim will be out of town this weekend too and I’m trying to think of something creative to do on Sunday afternoon…anyone have any ideas? Random shoot ideas? Let me know… I might be up for working with you!

11. Yesterday one of our clients stopped by and hung out for a while with her 4 month old daughter. I told Bailey to look and see how big and beautiful her eyes are when mom, Maggie, said “Bailey, do you think she got her eyes from me” (who also has beautiful blue eyes!) and Bailey answered, “No, God gave her her eyes.” A seriously proud mom moment!

12. Hearts came down yesterday and bunnies went up. I love the change of seasons and how fresh our house feels!

13. I’m on my third Mnt Dew after a long night with Gray not sleeping. Not sure what’s going on with him and hoping it’s not still his ears.

14. Will my kids EVER sleep through the night?

15. Wanting new photos of my kids and have the outfits ready… maybe I’ll do that this weekend! Or not.

16. Every single session I edit I am jealous that I don’t have photos like that of us. Every time. Especially engagements and seniors. My senior photos suck and we didn’t have engagement photos. I’d love better photos from those times in my life!

17. Dinner is on the stove so that when Chris walks in the door at 6pm I can check out for a bit. Thinking I might go for a run. Or walk. But man does a nap sound good!

18. My skin is so screwed up right now! My face seems to break out so easily but is the driest it has ever been. Anyone have any suggestions on good face wash+lotion? My Oil of Olay doesn’t seem to be cutting it anymore. Oh 30, you show up in the worst ways!

19. We need to buy new bikes for the girls this spring/summer. Any suggestions? The princess bike we bought Bailey two years ago was crap but of course we can’t afford too much… would love ideas!

20. I wish we had more space for the kids to ride bikes. We have a gravel driveway on a busy street so we use our neighbors behind us. Works great I just would love our own space.

21. Gray had a little bitty poop over the weekend, (I know you are so excited to see where this story is going) and i said, “Oh Gray! You had a baby poop!” And now he says “baby poop” ALL THE TIME. It is seriously the cutest thing you’ve ever heard! HA!

22. I think a spring project will be repainting our back porch. We painted the floor when we moved in 3+ years ago and it needs it again. I might start searching for cool painted floor ideas and actually do something custom! Make it cuter out there! We also need new curtains…

23. Sometimes I find myself staying up way too late just enjoying the private+quiet time. But I know I need more sleep. I just crave that time though!

24. I might have to print one of these photos to bring more spring into our home! I love the colors!

25. I get great joy cutting my kid’s nails. Not sure why but I love it!

26. I offered to cut my niece’s nails for the first time because I consider myself somewhat of an expert and totally made her bleed. OMG I felt so bad!

27. Alison dropped off some samples for me to photograph for her so yesterday, while I had my camera out, I made the girls pose for me. Bailey is actually starting to understand what I’m saying when I ask her to pose but I am just excited if I get a shot of Parker, my BUSY one, in focus!

28. Did I mention how much I LOVE her work? These shirts are beyond adorable and to the sickeningly cute place that makes me want to bite the lingering baby pudge on my girls! Thanks Alison!

29. Watching American Pickers makes my dumpster diving ways seem way cooler. I’m going to make Chris watch this show so he sees just how awesome i am when I pick up junk off the side of the road and call it decorating! HA!

30. I am cold. A jog would warm me up but so would a blanket. And a nap. Or just getting up out of my chair and doing some housework.

OFF I GO!

my iPhone.

When we were leaving for Florida last August I had a panic attack the night before we left that I wouldn’t be able to check email. I know that sounds sad but there was no internet connection where we were going for a week and Kim and I had just started Fresh Art so we were just slammed. So literally just hours before we left (we drove all night so the kids would sleep) I ran out and bought an iPhone.

Totally a rash decision. And the best one I’ve ever made.

My iPhone has helped me in SO many ways! It gives me the freedom to be with the kids all day but still be a bit plugged in when I feel like I need to be. I can email clients back, answer calls, etc. It has really been a huge help this year in keeping up with our growing business.

But my favorite aspect of it?

The camera.

It’s like carrying a crappy point and shoot everywhere with me! And seriously, the photos suck. BUT. They are still photos. Going in, if I know they’re going to suck, it somehow releases me to just snap away!

And now there is a Project 365 app that lets you insert a photo each day on a calendar… so far I have a shot for every day of 2010! I love that!

Here are a few of my favs since August…

(notice the one of Parker all hooked up at the hospital? it’s my FAVORITE b/c it was this winter in the midst of everyone being sick CONSTANTLY and I actually thought to pack a freaking art project for the hospital! So there is my sweet 3 year old gluing away while getting a breathing treatment! ha!)

grandma.

I could write a novel about my mom. Or really it would just be the worlds longest thank you letter!

But lately she has really been helping me out. Like this week when I have EIGHT sessions in EIGHT days. And she’s keeping my kids the majority of that time! My kids who are a handful on a good day and a nightmare when both Gray and Parker have ear infections!

So thanks mom!

I just had to post these snaps from yesterday’s session (I had to take new employee photos for KCCI)… love…

cousin snap shots.

Oh the joy of blogging separately! Now I can post crappy snapshot type photos without the guilt! So beware… BAAAAAD Mommy photos will be coming atcha on a regular basis!

Seriously, i LOVE the freedom of just recording our life now! And I don’t even care that I’ll be so boring everyone will stop popping by! Because although i LOVE and ADORE all of you people that even know I’m back over here, I love that I can blog JUST FOR ME again! Oh so happy!

So these pics are from when my sister came to town and we let the girls all hold baby Avery… my girls were obsessed with wanting to hold her and I love how NATURAL these photos are! Messy+static filled hair (Parker ALL winter!), mis-matched clothes, crown (from a great Etsy shop I need to remember to link!), etc. I also love the faces Avery is making! Like GET ME THE HECK OUT OF HERE MOM! HA! I love it. All of it. Our five kids under five. All together.

Her eyes seriously floor me. All the time! I’m still not used to their beauty… is that weird?

Avery is tiny. I mean 6 weeks old tiny here. But doesn’t she look big while being held by a 4 year old?

Ok. This photo seriously cracks me up! Avery’s face is HILARIOUS and Parker’s hair has been the bane of my existence ALL winter! Especially after her “hair cut!”

Thanks for visiting Aunt Abbie, Uncle Chris, Sam and Avery! I think I have more photos from the trip I’ll get up soon!
