1. What is going on with the RAIN? We’ve lived in this house not quite two years yet and after last year’s massive drought we had no idea until AFTER all of our bathroom/basement December flood construction was finished that we have a big leak on two walls in the basement! I am SO sick of water in my basement I could scream! We have borrowed fans on constantly and towels in rotation to keep the water off the new tile floor!

2. Parker had a BIG weekend!

She is SO excited (mom, act surprised when you see her b/c she was DYING to show you at church today so now she’s looking forward to Tues!) and proud! She showed anyone and everyone at church this morning! And I love watching Bailey celebrate her milestones with her even though she herself is on loose tooth number six right now… she’s a great big sister.

3. I was waiting in line tonight at Schnucks (after Chris traded me laundry duty for a quick grocery run) at the deli counter and it was taking forever. There was a couple being waited on, a man in front of me and one behind me. Two women were working but only one was helping customers. I wondered how badly I needed turkey, wondered why the other woman wasn’t helping get the line down at 8pm on a Sunday night and noticed how impatient everyone seemed. When I got up to the counter I smiled at the woman and she apologized for my wait. I said it was no big deal and that I wasn’t in a hurry (the people pleaser in me always talks to strangers b/c my brain was running through all the things I still wanted to accomplish tonight and how I had hoped to go to bed early and how LONG this was taking even though my mouth said something much much kinder….). She said that she appreciated me saying that because the couple in front of me complained and she said she wished she could tell them to walk in their shoes for just a moment. That caught me off guard so I asked her if everything was ok. She told me that the other woman (not helping customers) was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer and was given to November to live but has to keep working for her health insurance. And she (the one helping me) was hit head-on in her car at the stoplight right outside the store a week ago by a drunk driver and had two broken ribs. She said she used her sick days up and even though she was in a lot of pain still had to come to work so SHE didn’t lose any coverage or pay. It made my desire for an early bedtime seem so trivial and I walked away thanking God for the reminder to stop judging other people so harshly. Wow.

4. On a lighter note… have you guys seen THIS taco chip animation? I am STILL laughing!

5. I bought my first ever piece of furniture off Craigslist today! Chris came with me so no worries and her name was Bonnie so I wasn’t too nervous! Anyway, i got a beautiful antique buffet to use as a changing table in the studio! The first piece of furniture is in there! Yeah!

6. I spent a huge portion of Saturday finishing one of the best books I’ve ever read. Unbroken by Laura Hillenbrand. I’m not really drawn to nonfiction but OH MY GOSH this is one amazing book. It took me a little to get into it but once the war started I couldn’t put it down. Seriously amazing. And I can’t think of the last time I spent a rainy day reading… that was truly delightful!

7. Has anyone watched The Following? I’m getting mixed reviews and am going to start it this week as I attempt to tackle a load of editing I need to do. Thoughts?

8. Friday night I got to sit in the pouring rain for 3 hours with my best friend as we watched Chris and his team bring home the conference championship (technically they tied for first with Rockwood) AND beat the heck out of Kirkwood! It was freezing cold and miserable but MAN did it feel awesome to beat Kirkwood! As a Kirkwood grad I’m probably not allowed to admit how awesome it felt! Chris had a good weekend just flying high after that win which made our whole house happy! I love being able to support him and I love being able to do with with Angie at my side!

I made C’s dad let me take a photo so I could show the kids a cold and wet Bubba!

When I got home I took this shot of my curl… I don’t take many shots of myself but I’m trying to change that.

9. Yesterday we went to the carnival at our preschool and Parker’s FAVORITE part was the pony ride. That kid is obsessed with horses. Still. My favorite part was sitting with good friends and chatting while the kids ran around having a blast all on their own! There are some really nice things about having older kiddos!

10. We had dinner last night at the Dunn’s (two of our closest friends) and their youngest, Phoebe, is my absolute favorite kid (that’s not my own!). She is HYSTERICAL and I love just being around her! SO to give you all a little bit of Phoebe I thought I would treat you to her yodel! HA!

If that’s not the best way to start a new week I don’t know what is!
