Several weeks ago I went to Shaw Nature Reserve with my friend Nancy. We walked for exercise and to take photos. It was one of my favorite days this spring and has sparked a new found love of capturing flowers! I’m not very good yet but working on it! I went walking with my mom at Missouri Botanical Gardens this morning actually! And not just capturing flowers but playing with my camera. It’s so rare that I shoot just for fun anymore but I’ve been trying to go out at least once a week to walk and shoot.
What’s fun is that Nancy and I ended up shooting the same things – on purpose – so we could compare how different our shots would be. I’m going to share hers here too so you can see how two people, both professional photographers but with very different styles, can shoot the same area and get totally different images. It just goes to show that knowing your camera and having technical knowledge isn’t what’s most important as a photographer – you have to have an eye also. And as a consumer it’s important to really look at potential photographer’s work – look at how they edit and how they crop and what they capture. Every photographer is different because we’re all human and I just love that!
