I am really passionate about giving. I work hard to teach my kids to have giving hearts. A giving spirit. I think it’s important. Really important. I have a quote that is taped to the window in front of my desk that says, “Work while you have the light. You are responsible for the talent that has been entrusted to you.” by Henri Frederic Amiel. I love it because that’s how I feel about my work. I never graduated college and floated around a lot, all the while praying that God would just show me where I was meant to go. When I started my photography business I wasn’t sure where I was headed. I didn’t know if it would work out and grow and actually make us any money or crash and burn. For all the years I’ve worked so hard to grow this business I’ve felt like it’s been a gift that was given to me. A talent that was entrusted to me. I feel, sometimes, that I’m doing the work God designed me to do and because of that I think it’s incredibly important to give back. In any and every way possible. And when I give back my kids are watching. They see all the little random acts of kindness I do throughout the week and the bigger things we do as a family. They hear, see and take in everything so more important than the giving is the joyful way we do it too. Wednesday we spent the afternoon delivering fun little fall treats to people we love and doing some little random acts here and there as well. We had music on loud in the car, we sang and danced our way from place to place and had a blast!

So while I truly hope this gift of a free session blesses Brenna and her family, it’s really blessing my family more. It’s giving me a way to teach my kids about kindness and opening our hearts and giving of our time even when we feel there isn’t any more to give. This session will hopefully happen in the next few weeks so that Brenna will have something fun in time for Christmas to give her family!

Truly, this is my birthday gift to myself!
