Have you ever been SO excited for something you think about it every single day? Like Christmas was when you were a kid. Or how it is now when you have kids. Well, waiting for the Johnston’s to have this baby is WAY bigger than any of that. I literally think about this bambino every day. I can’t wait to hold this baby most of all! Really, I imagine what it will feel like to see Sharon in labor and to hear whether it’s a GIRL or BOY and I imagine Tom’s face when they hold that baby up and seeing their family get to come meet him or her for the first time. ALL OF IT. Is magical. And all of it unfolds in my brain every day like a beautiful painting just itching to be painted. Like my mind won’t sit still until I can capture these moments I know will unfold in just a couple short weeks. Days. Less than a month. I can’t wait.
And I know I’m going to ball my eyes out the ENTIRE time because Tom and Sharon have been parents without a baby for far too long now. And this baby is the luckiest baby around!
But before we get to be there for the birth (I will be in the c-section and Kim will be capturing all the amazing moments happening in the waiting room… then we’ll shoot together once the baby’s here!) we had to get some maternity shots for them! And of course we HAD to do it on the coldest day of the year! Or so we thought! Today it was 4 degrees when I woke up so TODAY would have been much much worse, but the big old 28 that it was last weekend was bad enough! And OH MAN you should have heard Tom complain! Such a chick. HA!
Anyway, I hope you all like these images. This is one of my favorite sessions simply because I couldn’t love Tom or Sharon any more than I do. We are literally family now. And it’s bittersweet because I would give them up in a heartbeat to get Seamus back, since that’s why and how I met them, but if God wanted Seamus home I’m so blessed to have been able to be a part of their world at that time. Because they are the biggest blessing to Chris and I now. Amazing friends. I love you sister!
The best part of photographing these two? It’s SO easy to get REAL and GENUINE smiles out of them! Watch for Tom’s incredible laughing smile… it’s HANDS DOWN the best smile ever. And that’s saying a lot because I married Chris because of his smile… but I think Tom has him beat! Sorry C! Love you! Tom just smiles with his entire face… watch for it!
